Member Profile: Jan Allen |
| Jan joined us in 2006 for
Nunsense bringing with her a wealth of theatrical talent including
Directing, Writing and Musical Director. Jan is also currently an
LRP Committee member. Jan was a cellist and tenor/bass trombone player with the WRAF Central Band from 1964 until its disbandment in 1972. Since leaving the service Jan has devoted her time to teaching and performing. She can boast being billed alongside Jimmy Edwards, George Chisholm, Max Jaffa, Kenny Baker and Roy Castle. She has performed as a cellist under the baton of Sir Adrian Boult and Sir Malcolm Sargent and attended seminars with the great cellist Pablo Casals. Jan was Musical Director of Cranwell Singers from 1989 to 2000 and Musical Director and founder member of Sleaford Showboat from 2000 to 2006. |

| Jan's stage credits
include Hannah in Ruddigore by G&S and Olwen Jones in Valley
of the Song by Ivor Novello with the Cranwell Singers. With Cranwell Little Theatre Jan has appeared as Dorothy in a Francis Durbridge Mystery, Astra the Astrologer in Santa in Space and the Empress of China in Aladdin. Other panto credits include The Red Queen in Snow White and Empress of China in Aladdin. (LRP's Aladdin was Jan's third Empress!) MD credits include Showboat, Anything Goes, Calamity Jane, My Fair Lady, Happy as a Sandbag and all the G&S operettas. Add to that six Christmas musicals and three revues written and directed by Jan for amateur companies. |
